PROGRESSIVE CONSULTANTS LTD. as a Consulting Engineering Company came into being in 1977 as an organization, mainly to provide specialized services in the field of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering to some internationally renowned engineering Firms, who required such services from Local Associates while carrying out specific project work in Bangladesh. Subsequently the Company has added to its capability in providing services in Civil Engineering and in Project Feasibility studies, Economic Planning, Environmental study, etc.

Over the years the Company have carried out pre-design activities such as, Topographical survey, Geotechnical Investigations and Environmental studies etc. With their in house staff PCL have done design construction and supervision of rehabilitation, renovation and augmentation of 33/1 lkV sub­transmission lines, l l/0.4kV & 0.4/0.235kV distribution network. In association with their foreign associates PCL have rendered services for design, feasibility study, drawings, preparation of tender documents etc. for 230KV sub-stations, 230/132KV & 132/33kV transmission lines & towers under BPDB, DESA, DESCO, & REB.

In collaboration with their sister organizations like Union Mercantile Ltd. (UML), Union Holdings Ltd. (UHL), Bangladesh Electrical & Construction Co. Ltd. (BECCL), PCL in association with the foreign Co. MIS. ALSTROM of France have designed and supervised constructions works of power stations like Barisal 20MW GT power stations I & II, 20MW Saidpur GTPS, Rangpur 20MW GTPS, Sylhet 20MW GTPS Baghabari 71MW GTPS & Shahjibazar 60MW GTPS. In association with Hyundai Co. of South Korea & Acres International Ltd. of Canada, the Company has done the rehabilitation works of 11 OMW and 60MW Khulna thermal power stations & Shahjibazar GT Power Station respectively. Besides the Company jointly constructed residential buildings, commercials high­rise buildings with electrification work.

Phase of Engineering from conceptual through preliminary to final design and construction are provided by project team of Engineers, Architects, Technologist and AutoCAD Operator drawn from in house staff at a good level of staff experience and technical proficiency.

Assignments are performed using a project task force under the control of a Project Manager. The day­to-day supervision is provided by an Executive/ Project Engineer who Co-ordinates the work of a Project Team. When additional specific expertise is required, specialist consultants are retained to utilise their skill.

Expertise developed over the years by our technical staff has led us to expand and at present we have sufficient strength to carry out large projects through our in-house experts in the fields of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and other related fields of Engineering.
